Designed Specifically for Haflinger Conformation

Haflingers are often recognised for their broad backs, rounded barrels, relatively low withers and distinctive body shape. A conventional western saddle may not provide the appropriate bar angle and contact needed for this type of horse. 15″ to 17″ Dakota Custom Haflinger Saddle 2214

The 15″ to 17″ Dakota Custom Haflinger Saddle 2214 addresses this challenge with a tree designed specifically for Haflinger conformation.

Its ExtraWide tree and angled bars are intended to provide:

• More appropriate contact for broad backs
• Improved saddle stability
• Better accommodation for rounder horses
• Greater clearance around the wither area
• Comfortable weight distribution
• A more suitable foundation for wide-bodied horses

The saddle can also be considered for other horses with similar conformation, including some stocky Quarter Horses, ponies, crosses and mutton-withered breeds. However, saddle fit is individual, so professional fitting is always recommended. 15″ to 17″ Dakota Custom Haflinger Saddle 2214

ExtraWide Steele Equi-Fit Tree

At the heart of the Dakota 2214 is an ExtraWide Steele Equi-Fit fiberglass-covered wood tree. This sturdy construction provides the foundation for the saddle while the specialised bar angle is designed to accommodate the broader shape associated with Haflinger-type horses. (Horse Saddle Shop)

This makes the 2214 particularly appealing to riders who have struggled to find a traditional western saddle that sits comfortably on a wide or round-backed horse.

A correct fit remains essential. The ExtraWide designation does not guarantee a fit for every wide horse, so measuring and professional saddle assessment should be completed before regular use.

Comfortable Trail Riding Design

The Dakota Custom Haflinger Saddle 2214 is designed as a western trail saddle, making it suitable for riders who want dependable comfort during recreational riding and outdoor adventures.

It is ideal for:

• Trail riding
• Pleasure riding
• Leisure riding
• Horse trekking
• Countryside riding
• Ranch-style riding
• Weekend adventures
• Long-distance recreational riding

Its round skirt and practical design make it a versatile addition to a rider’s tack collection.

Rider Seat Sizes from 15″ to 17″

The Dakota Haflinger 2214 is available in 15-inch, 16-inch and 17-inch western seat sizes, allowing riders to select a size appropriate for their build and riding preferences. (Horse Saddle Shop)

Choosing the correct western saddle seat is important for rider comfort, balance and security. Consider your existing western saddle size, body proportions and preferred riding position when selecting your seat.

For riders who are unsure which seat size to choose, professional fitting advice is recommended.

Durable Fiberglass-Covered Tree Construction

The fiberglass-covered wood tree provides a sturdy foundation designed for regular riding. The product is also offered with a 10-year tree warranty, providing additional confidence in the tree construction. (Horse Saddle Shop)

This combination makes the Dakota 2214 a practical option for riders seeking a durable western saddle without moving into the price range of a fully custom-built saddle.

Stainless Steel In-Skirt Rigging

The saddle features stainless steel in-skirt rigging in a 7/8 position, providing a practical rigging configuration for trail and recreational riding. (Horse Saddle Shop)

Stainless steel hardware is valued for its durability and resistance to corrosion, making it a practical choice for equestrian equipment used regularly.

Classic Western Detailing

The Dakota 2214 combines functional construction with traditional western styling.

Its design includes:

• Roper border tooling
• Round skirt
• Leather rosettes
• Strings on dee clips
• Stainless steel hardware
• Classic western horn
• Rich Pro Brown finish

The result is a saddle that offers practical trail functionality while maintaining the distinctive appearance western riders expect.

Full Flank Set Included

The full flank set is included with the Dakota Haflinger 2214. Dakota’s flank set includes a connector strap designed to secure the flank to the front cinch. (Horse Saddle Shop)

This provides additional convenience for riders looking for a complete saddle setup for trail and recreational riding.
